Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will oversee the Plant Engineering group, managing long-term planning and implementation of manufacturing processes and automation technologies while ensuring compliance with quality and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
Defines department and project/program goals in technology/science and tactics to achieve those goals on a regional level. Development of people/talent in their group and region
Provides direction to assure alignment and completion of projects to deliver regional program objectives. Proactively develops tactics for accomplishing program objectives
Good management and strong technical skills. Demonstrates knowledge in bridging technical and business disciplines and assessing the associated risks
Leads at group level of organization. Provides technical or team leadership for programs and work teams, and consultation to colleagues. Track record of developing others
Documented success achieving business objectives and program/project goals. Strong record of regional collaboration ensuring completion of programs/projects. Good track record of people development
Leverages internal and external expertise to drive innovative solutions to meet project or program goals on regional level
Partners with Mfg, QA, R&D, and Regulatory on appropriating short and long term technological solutions in support of the business’ operational strategy
Manages resources in the design, evaluation, development and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies, processes, methods, equipment and systems
Advises Manufacturing, R&D and QA management on areas of opportunity and recommends prioritization in support of strategic direction and focus
Manages the planning and allocation of staff resources, training requirements and prioritization of projects. Generate and measure tangible development opportunities for direct reports
Supports Quality Systems programs and requirements through enablement of SPC, process software development & validation and ECO process support
Participates with site management on review and approval of project schedules, staffing requirements and related cost expectations
Coordinates and directs projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department, service, laboratory or firm
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the performance of reporting department and business unit
Set scientific and technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management
Represents the Site as the Eng. Leader in MD&D Technology forums and strategic discussions
Prepares and manages site’s budget related to projects, technical resources, facilities and maintenance
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
Demonstrate independent understanding and application of core GMP fundamentals, including but not limited to: Data Integrity (DI), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

Qualification
Required
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in technical field and/or Engineering Management
8+ years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An advanced degree is preferable
Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred
Advanced computer skills and use of software applications. Strong computer background (MS Office, MS Project Management, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
Experience in a manufacturing environment developing manufacturing standards
Proficient in project management, creating credibility within team members and expanding capabilities of the group
Experience or knowledge in short and long-term project management
Strong Organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple commitments and technical problem-solving duties
Ability to shift priorities according to changes in department/facility needs and open to different ideas/approaches
