Content Tutor (Staff Wage & Student Wage)

$20/hr - $22/hrThe University of Virginia is seeking diverse candidates for the position of Content Tutor to assist student-athletes with course-specific knowledge and skill acquisition. Content Tutors will create and instruct sessions, comply with NCAA regulations, and monitor student progress while working closely with the Athletics Academic Affairs staff.

Responsibilities
Create, plan, and instruct sessions specific to course content
Conduct sessions using the CAST tutoring framework
Comply with all NCAA and ACC rules and regulations as well as the UVA Honor Code guidelines through continuous training
Complete detailed session reports at the end of each session via the Athletics Academic Affairs reporting system
Communicate with Academic Affairs staff regarding any issues or concerns with student-performance
Establish professional working relationship with students and the Athletics Academic Affairs Staff
Attend tutor orientation at the beginning of each semester and required trainings throughout
Monitor student progress and report to the appropriate constituents
Additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma with some college course work
Must have knowledge of the tutor course content and have received a B or better in that particular course
Must be able to deliver study strategies specific to the content area
Must have strong communication skills
Must be highly organized
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and the UVA Honor Code
Preferred
Master's Degree
Experience working with students in higher education
Some experience with teaching, advising, tutoring or mentoring
Experience working with student-athletes
