Senior Director, Technology Operations - Risk Monitoring

Responsibilities
Set the vision and develop the long-term global fraud prevention and risk management operating model to protect Walmart Marketplace, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and customer trust mandates
Develop and implement comprehensive lifecycle monitoring strategy programs for fraud, risk, and trust & safety teams to ensure they are equipped with the necessary capabilities, risk intelligence and ownership of scorecard to manage loss within a growth enabled risk appetite framework which provides exceptional protection
Establish robust seller risk controls, assurance and governance frameworks to continuously monitor and improve the performance of fraud prevention and credit risk mitigation, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards
Champion continuous process enhancement and operational rigor, ensuring every initiative is grounded in measurable performance outcomes and an unwavering commitment to platform integrity
Establish and oversee enterprise-wide KPIs, SLAs, and analytics frameworks; leverage deep data insights to define new targets, identify emerging risks, and drive transformative improvements in fraud detection, risk mitigation, and trust & safety
Lead regular business reviews and regular executive briefings with both Walmart and partner C-suite leaders, ensuring transparency, accountability, and rapid resolution of escalation issues
Drive global implementation of best-in-class technologies, automation strategies, and operational innovations that redefine fraud prevention and elevate risk automation to scale the Marketplace growth while balancing P&L and customer friction
Partner with Product, Technology, Operations, Compliance, and Finance leaders to co-create and deploy fraud prevention and trust & safety strategies, ensuring seamless alignment between internal initiatives and partner capabilities
Champion the development and adoption of next-generation risk assessment methodologies, resource optimization models, and innovation pilots that unlock new value for sellers and customers
Serve as Walmart’s thought leader and subject matter expert in fraud prevention and risk management, representing the company in industry forums and steering critical projects affecting Walmart’s brand and customer trust
Own budget planning and management for global fraud prevention operations, driving resource allocation strategies that balance cost, experience, and scalability
Identify and deliver significant cost reduction initiatives, unlock operational synergies, and enable rapid business growth through strategic sourcing, automation, and process reengineering
Inspire, develop, and manage a team of high-performing leaders and managers across global fraud prevention, risk, and trust & safety operations
Build a culture rooted in accountability, diversity, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
Mentor emerging Walmart talent, supporting organizational capability building, succession planning, and career advancement opportunities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 7 years' experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area
9 years' experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area
4 years' supervisory experience
Progressive experience in global fraud prevention, risk management, payments, or trust & safety, with experience in a senior/executive leadership capacity
A proven track record of managing complex business operations at a global enterprise
Demonstrated strategic thinking, strong analytical acumen, and executive presence
Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills in high-growth, dynamic environments
Preferred
Master's degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 6 years' experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area
Experience leading global fraud, risk, or trust & safety teams in a Fortune 500 or large-scale eCommerce environment
Deep expertise in payments risk, fraud merchant credit risk, chargeback management, anti-money laundering (AML), and regulatory compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR, PSD2, etc.), or equivalent experience
Hands-on experience with fraud detection technologies, machine learning platforms, and real-time transaction monitoring systems, or equivalent experience
Proven success in building and scaling global programs across multiple geographies and regulatory environments, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change at the executive level, including Board and C-suite presentations, or equivalent experience
Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing for fraud and risk solutions, or equivalent experience
Multilingual or international experience in managing risk within US, China, Canada, Mexico, EU, UK a plus
