Camera Enforcement Officer (Part-Time)

Responsibilities

Reviews traffic enforcement cameras for accuracy and authenticates violations
Testifies in court when required for video traffic enforcement case prosecution
Processes, examines, and analyzes electronically stored data related to speed and red-light camera enforcement
Examines and analyzes text, graphics, multimedia, and digital images
Operates software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Products, Adobe, Web browser (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.) and any other web-based software required
Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance
Performs other related duties as required

Qualification

DCJS Certified Police OfficerTraffic enforcement experienceVideo equipment operationCommunication skills

Required

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent
Must be a DCJS Certified Police Officer, or be a 'Retired sworn law-enforcement officer,' as defined in § 46.2-882.1, who at the time of retirement kept an up-to-date certification and retired honorably in good standing
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria
Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion
This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy
Must be able to maintain the ability to provide credible testimony in court, to the magistrate and in other situations where credibility will be of importance
The incumbent may be considered 'essential personnel' during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules
