The Pre-billing Specialist is responsible for managing authorization processes for non-emergency transports, ensuring that appropriate paperwork is obtained and maintaining communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and/or authorizations

Review non-emergency transports to identify appropriate payor and determine if an authorization is required

Follow established processes to request and/or obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports

Work with Communications to ensure adequate and appropriate levels of service are dispatched for non-emergency transports

Manage Authorization work bin to ensure payor requirements are met

Process customer complaints quickly by receiving, investigating, redirecting or, resolving the issue

Develop and sustain excellent working relationships with AMR professionals (e.g., Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance), as well as with the Company’s clients, payors, consultants, banks and financial intermediaries and government agencies

Required

High School diploma or GED

Preferred

EMT certification/licensure or medical experience

Experience in medical industry

General knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology

Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines related to ambulance billing

Knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other critical governmental regulations within one (1) month of hire date
