Responsibilities

Develop hydraulic models utilizing hydraulic design software, such as HEC-RAS, to analyze major bridge and culvert crossings
Perform scour analysis
Prepare Bridge and Culvert Survey Reports in accordance with NCDOT standards
Utilize software such as HY-8, Bentley OpenRoads Drainage and Utilities, GEOPAK Drainage, and FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox to design and analyze hydraulic capacity of existing and proposed drainage networks, minor hydraulic structures, and drainage ditches
Prepare project design drawings within Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation
Prepare Erosion and Sediment Control Plans and associated design calculations
Prepare environmental permit drawings and associated application packages

Required

Minimum of Three (3) years of hydraulic design experience for NCDOT, or other related state transportation agency projects
Engineering Intern (EI) Certification with the ability to obtain NC PE License
Must possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
Outstanding Organizational Skills
Strong Communication Skills
Strong sense of urgency, project responsibility, and initiative
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

5+ years of hydraulic design experience for NCDOT, or other related state transportation agency projects preferred
NC PE License (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
Proficiency with HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer
Experience and familiarity with industry hydraulic design software such as HY-8, Bentley OpenRoads Drainage and Utilities, GEOPAK Drainage
Extensive knowledge of NCDOT Drainage and Erosion Control Design standards
NC Level III Design of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans Certification
