Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting functions for the organization and support the needs for management reporting and accounting operations

Oversee full cycle accounting processes including monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting

Oversee accounting system, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, financial reporting, and business processes within the system

Oversee and support all financial audits and compilations, including ensuring that public disclosure documents are accurately prepared and professionally presented

Support treasury operations, cash flow monitoring

Provide frequent, meaningful management reports and analyses

Design and implement proper internal controls by establishing policies and procedures from industry best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency

Partner across the organization with all departments on accounting and business needs

Lead and manage the accounting team to ensure accurate, effective, and timely financial reporting and provide meaningful metrics to support organizational decisions

Collaborate closely with the CFO and senior leadership to deliver financial support to inform decisions and partake in internal and external meetings to discuss financial performance and outlook

Monitor debt covenants and compliance including and required reporting

Experience building a high performing accounting team and holding each member accountable while providing development opportunities to allow for growth

Required

Minimum 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting

At least 3 years of supervisory experience required

Hands-on experience as an advanced user with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or Financial Edge NXT required

Expert level background in full cycle accounting, GAAP, and all applicable accounting standards applicable to non-profit organizations

Advanced background in budgeting and forecasting practices and models, financial statement preparation, grants accounting, and federal indirect cost recovery

Background in overseeing annual financial statement audit, A-133/single audit, retirement plans audits, regulatory reporting

Preferred

Bachelors Degree in Applied Sciences (Engineering), Science, Computing Science, Accounting, Finance

Active CPA License in good standing

Experience in a non-profit academic setting or a research environment will be provided priority

Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm in Audit and Assurance or in Financial Advisory is highly desirable

Experience building a high performing accounting team and holding each member accountable while providing development opportunities to allow for growth
