Election Assistant
The State of South Dakota is seeking an Election Assistant for the Office of the Secretary of State. The role involves managing election-related communications and assisting the Election Team with various projects and duties.

Responsibilities
Answer phones
Work closely with Election Team staff on various election projects and duties
Assist elected officials, the public and election officials with questions
Assist with planning the SOS County Auditor workshops and webinar trainings
Assist with special projects or assignments as needed
Responsible for records management
Assist with processing voter file purchases and payments
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required

Ability to multitask
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a very fast paced environment

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with respect, patience and understanding
Initiative to work on projects without much hand holding
Professional customer service, internally and externally

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other state employees, election officials, candidates, elected officials, and the public
Confidentiality and professionalism always
Ability to handle difficult people over the phone and in-person
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other desktop tools
