Manager, Employee Relations - Universal Destinations & Experiences

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking a Manager of Employee Relations & Investigations to investigate Team Member concerns in a fair and consistent manner. The role involves conducting in-depth investigations, developing standardized processes for tracking employee relations claims, and providing guidance to management on sensitive employee issues.

Responsibilities

Responsible for autonomously conducting in-depth interviews and investigations of highly sensitive and complex allegations, including gathering and evaluating information; preparing reports, determining facts; conferring with managers about issues to creatively resolve problems, and answering questions regarding HR processes specific to investigations and discipline; assisting with the preparation of disciplinary documentation
Develop and implement standardized processes for conducting investigations and tracking, and documenting employee relations claims and cases. Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of investigations with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents into a centralized system
Analyze aggregate casework data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation
Partner in analysis and revision of Team Member programs, policies, and practices to sustain a positive work environment
Provide counseling, advice, and guidance to Management and HR business partners in dealing with complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of policies and practices
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field required
Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements
Minimum 5 years of increasingly responsible Human Resources generalist experience, including experience with employee relations processes/activities
Minimum of 3 years of experience handling complicated employee investigations and collaborating with legal counsel to document and ensure timely resolutions with investigations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to earn trust and work successfully on a wide range of Team Member issues
Strong prioritization and time management skills
Ability to work independently
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Sensitive to deadlines and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
Consistent attendance is a job requirement

Preferred

Advanced degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field
Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and to deliver high-quality HR services in a fast-paced, high-change, matrixed environment
Strong facilitation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrates vertical flexibility - ability to shift focus from big picture to 'getting things done' as necessary
Experience with a case database, such as Oracle, CaseIQ, or iSight
Experience in union/represented environments or the hospitality industry is highly preferred
Ability to develop integrated solutions from inception to post-delivery assessment
Occasional flexibility with working weekends and holidays, if needed
