Responsibilities

Groundwater, soil, and air sampling and monitoring data collection
Field duties will include drilling oversight of investigative and remedial projects
Technical oversight of drilling, sampling, and onsite subcontractors
Oversight of heavy equipment, construction, and demolition subcontractors
Serve as onsite safety for the project team and all subcontractors
Ability to provide a safe working environment for all onsite workers. Health and safety must be implemented in every aspect of the job duties, with the ability to recognize and mitigate hazards
Surveillance, maintenance, and inspection of DOE-owned monitoring wells and infrastructure on a weekly basis
Calibrate and use instrumentation for environmental and health and safety data collection
Perform operation and maintenance on groundwater extraction/treatment systems and extraction of groundwater within subsurface structures to maintain safe access
Ensure the site is maintained and in safe condition for all project stakeholders and site visitors
Able to directly interface with client and stakeholder personnel for project site tours and/or investigate and report site conditions when requested
Provide site orientation and safety training to all onsite personnel and new project team members upon request
Data analysis and field summary report writing
Preparation of data tables and technical reporting tasks
Manage all field geological aspects of environmental projects
Responsible for management of project recording keeping such as daily reports, site accountability, environmental data, inspection forms, waste logs, profiles, and manifests, etc
Organize, lead project teams and participate in field efforts as needed to support the successful execution of projects
Analyze project needs and establish appropriate project priorities
Analyze and evaluate technical environmental data to ensure completeness and accuracy
Assisting in developing more junior staff in technical and consulting excellence
Collect data and samples in accordance with approved procedures
Able to proficiently use Microsoft office tools, software, and applications
Participate in client stakeholder meetings and public relations
Provide field status updates in client meetings
Experience with Waste Management, staging, and disposal

Required

Bachelor's Degree in geology, engineering, or environmental science
Must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in the environmental field
3+ years of experience with soil, groundwater and air sampling
Knowledge and experience with various media (e.g., soil, groundwater, air), contaminant types, and standard operating procedures for investigation and corrective action
Demonstrated experience writing technical plans and reports for regulatory review
Knowledge and experience with drilling oversight including soil borings, monitoring well installations, and monitoring well abandonments
Ability to manage field projects with extensive customer contact
Able to manage field subcontractors
Excellent interpersonal skills; work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, and clients, as well as outside business associates
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from clients, managers, staff and the general public
Ability to utilize multiple word-processing and database applications including MS Office applications for SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and Access
Demonstrate the ability to work accurately, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks
Excellent proof-reading and writing skills
High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential client information
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, work under pressure, and capable of prioritizing workload
Must pass pre-employment background check
Must pass pre-employment drug testing
Must have a valid driver license
Ability to drive a pick-up truck and/or transit van
40-hour HAZWOPER with 8-hour refresher
Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire Department of Energy uncleared badge

Preferred

Experience working on projects for Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, or other federal agencies
Working knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulatory processes for facility investigation and corrective action
