InternThe San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) is committed to health justice, particularly for those affected by HIV. The Stonewall Project is seeking clinical interns to provide counseling services that integrate substance use, mental health, and sexual health education, while receiving support and training from experienced clinicians.

Responsibilities
Experience providing individual counseling, group counseling, intakes, and prevention and health education using harm reduction, cognitive-behavioral, and relational approaches
Exposure to contingency management, syringe access services, and other low-threshold interventions supporting our most vulnerable participants
Individual and group supervision with knowledgeable, supportive LMFT, LCSW, and LPCC clinicians
Monthly didactic and experiential training in motivational interviewing techniques
5–7 interactive training sessions on diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility, focusing on the specific communities we serve
Additional training sessions addressing important substance use, mental health, and HIV counseling topics within the communities we serve
Qualification
Required
Students enrolled in master's programs in counseling, psychology, or social work (MA, MS, MSW, MEd)
Post-master's Associate MFTs, Associate PCCs, and ASWs
Alcohol and drug counselors seeking California certification
20 hours per week commitment
One-year commitment
Skill in operating office equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine and telephone system
Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching
Preferred
Prior experience with harm reduction approaches
Substance use counseling experience
Experience working with the LGBTQI community
Candidates of any gender identity who are Black, Indigenous, or people of color
Candidates who speak Spanish
Candidates who are living with HIV
Candidates who use harm reduction or 12-step principles successfully in their own lives
