SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER - PSYCHIATRIC EPIDEMIOLOGIST

Responsibilities

Manage and conduct a programme of quantitative research projects and data platform development related to Serious Mental Illness
Work closely with the world-leading DATAMIND and Brain and Genomics Hub, both part of UKRI Mental Health Platform Hub
Develop leadership skills with opportunities for line management and expectation to act as senior lead on a portfolio of projects within the team
Apply research, analytical, epidemiological and programming skills to answer key research questions and build data platforms for analysis that drives evidence-based change in mental health, self-harm and suicide prevention

Required

Strong background in clinical epidemiology and/or health data science
Enthusiasm and aptitude for working with mental health related data
Relevant post-graduate degree or equivalent experience
Experience in the use of large relational databases through SQL
Fluency in a programming language such as R, Stata or Python
Knowledge of routine big data such as GP records and hospital admissions
Ability to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.)
