Adjunct Data Researcher
New Leaders is dedicated to developing transformational school leaders and advancing educational policies for high academic achievement. The Adjunct Data Researcher will support the organization by strengthening its data infrastructure and ensuring accurate reporting, while collaborating closely with the Director of Impact & Learning.

Responsibilities
Design and implement a standardized process for collecting, cleaning, and maintaining critical data points, including: Unique participant counts (unduplicated, across programs and years). Location data, including city, state, and NCES school IDs. District-level identifiers, including NCES district IDs, for all district-level leaders
Propose and, if approved, implement a refined methodology for student impact
Systematically collect and link NCES demographic data (school- and district-level) to participant data, ensuring accuracy in student diversity reporting
Produce validated annual counts of student reach and demographic representation
Lead the collection and analysis of Program & Implementation data as the priority deliverable
Deliver clean datasets and replicable documentation that allow future updating of counts of Program & Implementation data annually with minimal effort
Support team in responding to internal and external requests for data insights (e.g., funder reports, external relations statements, program evaluations)
Conduct rapid analyses on educator reach, city/district counts, and student demographics to support decision-making and communications
Provide recommendations on data collection improvements to increase completeness (e.g., addressing participant non-disclosure of demographics)
Participate in regular check-ins with the Impact and Learning team to align priorities, troubleshoot data challenges, and share progress
Prepare clear documentation of methods, assumptions, and decisions to ensure transparency and replicability
Provide written updates and summary reports on progress, challenges, and completed deliverables
Develop and maintain validation rules and automated checks to detect errors, duplications, and missing fields across datasets
Collaborate with the Impact & Learning team to verify data integrity before reporting
Document validation steps and decision rules to ensure reproducibility and transparency
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree Required
7 years of professional experience required with 3+ years of relevant experience in data management, analytics, research, program evaluation, or impact measurement
Advanced proficiency with data cleaning, transformation, and analysis tools, such as: Excel, SQL, Python or R, Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across a variety of backgrounds and experiences; must be results-driven while maintaining a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
Passionate belief in academic excellence for every student, aligned with New Leaders' mission
Experience working with Salesforce data structures, reporting objects, or integrations (or equivalent CRM/enterprise data systems)
Experience leading data infrastructure, data governance, or multi-source data integration initiatives
Experience designing clear, visually accessible reports using tools such as Canva, Google Slides, or similar platforms to translate analytical insights into stakeholder-ready communications
Demonstrated experience managing large educational datasets, including NCES, district/school data, or student demographic data
Experience supporting organization-wide reporting, annual impact reports, or performance dashboards
Experience partnering cross-functionally with technical, programmatic, and leadership teams to translate data needs into systems and processes
Proven ability to design and implement data collection, cleaning, validation, and maintenance systems across multiple programs or business units
Experience supporting ad-hoc analyses, funder reporting, evaluation requests, or external communications with accurate and accessible data
Strong strategic thinking, planning, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, time management skills, self-direction, and motivation
New Leaders requires each employee to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination (i.e., at least two weeks have passed since the employee received the dose of a single-dose vaccine or the second dose of a two-dose vaccine with at least the minimum recommended interval between doses) or to obtain an approved exemption or reasonable accommodation through the Human Resources team within six weeks of their start date as a term and condition of employment
Available for up to 25 hours per week
Commit to and be available to complete the full scope of any assignment, except for authorized modifications
