Legal Intern, Immigration
The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center is seeking a Legal Intern for their Immigration program. The intern will provide legal research, analysis, and support to clinics and programs, assisting staff attorneys and managing attorneys in various tasks related to immigration law.

Responsibilities
Assists staff attorneys and managing attorneys in preparing for legal clinics and resource centers
Provides legal research and legal analysis on immigration issues and related topic areas
Staffs the Quarterly Immigration Clinic (remote and/or in person)
Reviews documents providing legal information for accuracy and advises Pro Bono Center attorneys on necessary changes to any such documents
Updates and drafts new materials for self-represented litigants and responds to and maintains records of requests for materials or information
Conducts intakes with clients, both remotely and in person
Refers appropriate matters to Pro Bono Center programs as well as other area legal services providers
Helps to identify emerging issues and develops recommendations for service models
Assists in preparing community outreach and legal education materials for prospective clients and community members
Drafts forms, pleadings, reports, correspondence, notices, and other documents for attorney review
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Interns must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time ABA accredited law school program
Proficiency in Spanish
Demonstrated interest in public interest law
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
Strong writing skills
Ability to attend in-person meetings and events as needed
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact, including in-person, with Bar members, volunteers, vendors, the public and Pro Bono Center and Bar employees
Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
Preferred
Law school clinical experience
Experience with a legal services organization that provides legal services to indigent individuals
