Assistant Bursar
Ringling College of Art and Design is seeking an Assistant Bursar to support the Bursar in managing student accounts and billing operations. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulations and providing excellent customer service while performing various financial and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
Serve as the first level of administrative review for student and parent billing concerns
Maintain accurate student statements and prepare billing
Credit accounts with alternative loans and assist with importing federal, state, and institutional aid
Prepare student refunds, post check requests, and manage eRefund batches
Reconcile daily deposits, post receipts across systems, process online check deposits, and deliver cash deposits to the bank
Reconcile monthly Tuition Pay/Full-Service Payment Plan reports
Ensure Accounts Receivable aligns with the General Ledger
Prepare housing/board revenue audit schedules
Collaborate with Institutional Technology to ensure accurate 1098-T data for external vendors
Set up and maintain online ticket sales through Transact
Maintain the Bursar’s Policies and Procedures Manual
Assign and oversee student worker tasks
Update Bursar sections of the college website and student handbook
Assist with student information system operations, including data input, error resolution, release testing, and system enhancements
Perform cashier responsibilities as needed
Provide filing, copying, phone support, and visitor reception
Complete projects assigned by the Bursar
Assume responsibility for the department in the Bursar’s absence
Perform additional tasks as required
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma plus completion of college-level Principles of Accounting I & II (or equivalent)
Three years of experience in accounts receivable billing and collection, including the application of various credits, discounts, or pricing adjustments
Accounting knowledge including principles, methodology, and practices
Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
Strong human relations skills to interact with diverse personalities
Effective oral and written communication; proficiency in English grammar
Accurate computations manually and with a ten-key calculator
Ability to work regular hours and additional hours as needed
Skilled in word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software
Ability to review and confirm accuracy of reports
Working knowledge of accounting principles
Familiarity with modern office policies and procedures
Ability to present a professional appearance
Preferred
Prior work in a college or university setting
Knowledge of federal regulations and application of financial aid processes
