Stationary Engineer (Full-Time/Day)-Abington

Responsibilities
Operates and maintains boilers as well as chiller and auxiliary systems by reading meters/pressure gauges and taking necessary appropriate action to ensure safe operation
Repacks valves, changes piping, and lubricates compressors, pumps and related parts on a regular basis
Starts, stops, adjusts and regulates boilers and associated equipment as necessary to insure efficiency and continuity of service
Cleans boilers, waterside and fire side, annually or as required, to meet code and regulation requirements
Performs daily inspection of boilers, pipelines, and operating equipment for steam, water, air and fuel leaks or defective parts
Maintains record of gages and meter readings to determine fuel and steam consumption, steam produced, hot water and chilled/condensed water temperature, chiller operating pressure, etc
Consults with and keeps Lead/Chief Stationary Engineers apprised of activities, needs and issues as they arise
Performs other maintenance needs as required and directed by the supervisor or lead technician
Qualification
Required
Maintains and operates stationary steam boilers, pumps and related equipment such as water softeners, air compressors, water treatment systems and associated piping, chillers, tower and auxiliary systems
Performs daily chemical water treatment of the boilers to insure proper running of equipment
Abides by and enforces all safety rules and regulations, State and local in order to keep boiler house safe
Responsible for keeping the boiler house and immediate surrounding area clean and up to Jefferson's facilities standards
Occasionally required to perform general mechanical and minor electrical/HVAC work in support of the Facilities department and local building needs

Understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout standards
High School Diploma, Vocational School, or equivalent
Pennsylvania Class A License required for most PA-based facilities
New Jersey Black Seal required for all NJ-based facilities
Preferred
Prior military training and experience in the operation of boilers preferred
Prior experience as a stationary engineer/boiler operator preferred
