The United States Space Force is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief for Public Affairs to lead their communications and stakeholder engagement strategy. This role is central to shaping the organization's public image and ensuring impactful communication across all platforms.

Responsibilities
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time to include planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work
Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters
Interviews candidates for positions; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment
Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor or manager
Develops performance standards
Directs the execution of a comprehensive Public Affairs program integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, visual information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, special event planning, security and policy review, and Public Affairs resource management elements
Directly interfaces with installation commanders and directors; major command Public Affairs staff; local/state/federal elected and appointed officials; news media representatives; civic and special interest organizations; business, professional and academic leaders; civic leaders; and the general public
Represents the office with a variety of installation and local governmental, public, civic, service, industry, educational, and media organizations
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with installation commanders and directors; intergovernmental and nongovernmental leaders; local/state/federal elected and appointed officials; news media, think tank, and entertainment industry representatives; business, professional, and academic leaders; civic leaders; and the general public
Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolves significant problems that arise
Serves as advisor for Public Affairs
Participates in policy formulation; advises on the potential public reaction to proposed policies, plans and actions; organizes and evaluates communication strategies, goals and objectives, programs, and materials
Formulates policies, programs, and procedures governing Public Affairs functions related to the work of the agency
Shapes the strategy, direction, synchronization, and integration of communication efforts and establishes authoritative policy, precedent, procedures, and guidelines, providing trusted Public Affairs council to command senior leaders
Provides policy, guidance, direction, and assistance to subordinate levels of the organization
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed 'unscheduled telework'
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, policies, and practices of a Public Affairs program
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of written and oral communication and visual information principles, methods, and techniques to determine the need for, plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate Public Affairs and multimedia activities
Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to arrive at valid conclusions and offer meaningful recommendations
Skill in producing written information for audiences with different levels of understanding
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization
