Discovery Land Company is seeking an Associate Accountant to join their Finance and Accounting Department at Troubadour Golf & Field Club, located outside of Nashville, Tennessee. The role involves maintaining the general ledger, processing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting financial reporting and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger by recording journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies

Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, approval, and payment processing

Support the accounts receivable process by preparing and sending invoices, and monitoring collections

Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements

Assist in generating financial reports for internal and external stakeholders

Reconcile and analyze expenses, ensuring proper classification and adherence to budgetary guidelines

Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits

Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner

Monitor cash balances and report any issues or concerns

Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls

Support financial analysis by preparing variance reports and trend analyses

Assist in identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

Entry-level position; prior internship or coursework in accounting or finance is a plus

Ability to collaborate with team members and other departments
