Accounting Supervisor – Multi-Unit Retail
Urbana is a multi-unit retail organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting functions with a focus on cash operations, payroll accounting, and management reporting. This hands-on leadership role involves managing cash controls, payroll processing, and collaborating closely with operations to support business planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities
Oversee cash receipts, cash controls, and daily cash management across multiple retail locations
Lead cash planning and forecasting, including short- and medium-term cash flow projections
Perform and review bank reconciliations, accounts payable reconciliations and other financial system controls
Manage payroll processing and payroll accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Supervise accounting staff and ensure timely, accurate completion of assigned duties
Prepare and review management reporting, including store-level performance, cash flow, and variance analysis
Support month-end close activities related to cash, payroll, and retail operations
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
Partner with operations and leadership to support business planning and decision-making
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory accounting role with payroll processing responsibilities
Strong working knowledge of cash management, payroll accounting, and financial reporting
Proficiency required in Excel, Google Sheets, and QuickBooks Enterprise, Gusto Payroll
Candidates will be tested to assess skill level
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills to communicate with vendors, management, employees and tax officials
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively
Reliable transportation required to commute to Uptown Oakland
Preferred
Prior experience in retail, multi-unit, or cash-intensive environments strongly preferred
