AI Technical Strategist
GBLI | Global Indemnity is a provider of specialty property and casualty insurance for small to middle-market businesses, focused on being best-in-class while achieving profitable growth. They are seeking an AI Technical Strategist to design and implement AI-enabled applications, establish AI governance strategies, and translate business problems into AI product designs.

Responsibilities
Design and implement AI-enabled apps end-to-end, including data pipelines, selecting and implementing the correct models, and patterns and principles for scaling apps
Build with LLM engineering, prompt architecture, context engineering, agentic AI, RAG, and other integration patterns
Understand risk, compliance, and policy frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001)
Own the AI governance strategy for the organization
Responsible for the translation of GBLI’s Acceptable Use and data handling rules into enforceable controls (policy-as-code)
Build safety and observability into solutions from day one
Perform audits and reviews of AI powered systems for compliance against policy
Translate business problems into AI product designs with clear success metrics
Balance speed and risk and know when to experiment and when to lock down
Communicate AI concepts in plain language for business leaders
Partner with adoption and governance teams to align technical decisions with organizational goals
Comfortable leading workshops and writing decision records
Learn fast, thrive in ambiguity, and can pivot as GBLI’s AI strategy evolves
Bring a 'builder’s mindset' with a bias for action and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field and 5+ years in solution architecture, AI/ML engineering, or enterprise systems integration or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern application architectures (APIs, microservices, event-driven)
Experience with governance or enterprise architecture
Experience with AI/ML lifecycle (model deployment, monitoring, retraining)
Ability to create technical documentation, reference architectures, and reusable templates
Hands-on experience coding in languages commonly used for AI development, such as Python, R, JavaScript/TypeScript, C# or Java
Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, M365 Copilot, or similar AI platforms
Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy-by-design principles
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Bicep), and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks and regulatory considerations
