Internship, Factory Firmware Technical Program Manager, Vehicle Software (Winter/Spring 2026)

Tesla is seeking an Intern for the Factory Firmware Team to assist in leading various cross-functional initiatives. The intern will develop standardized workflows, support software release workflows, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure successful vehicle program integration into manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Develop tooling to streamline vehicle configuration across global manufacturing environments
Support new vehicle and variant bring up’s by tracking each build milestone, ensuring the necessary software support is in software releases, supporting validation efforts, working cross-functional to eliminate risks, and communicate clearly to local manufacturing teams and to the larger vehicle software organization how we are trending
Coordinate change control between R&D engineering & manufacturing teams
Support software release workflows through collaboration with technical leads, component owners, infrastructure support, QA, and manufacturing teams
Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with leadership, stakeholders, and internal team members in both written and verbal forms
Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and exercises sound business judgment

Required

Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between May 2026-May 2027
Previous technical program management (TPM / EPM) experience, managing consumer-facing software programs, manufacturing programs, and/or embedded systems
Experience developing tools/processes to streamline workflows
Experience managing fast paced, complex technology projects (end to end)
Ability to evaluate processes / programs for strengths and weaknesses and balance technical trade-offs against business ones
Solid critical thinking skills to be able to triage issues, understand hardware/software inter-dependencies, root cause analysis, and drive towards solutions
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals

Preferred

Experience working in or with mass manufacturing, EV's, &/or automotive background preferred
