Responsibilities

MITRE’s Space Intelligence Systems is looking for a Principal Network Engineer role that will be supporting multiple classified infrastructures as well as standalone environments
This role will require knowledge of implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 Security Controls / RMF compliance in each environment along with additional security lockdowns if required and ensure the accreditation is enforced and in compliance in all environments
Provide technical evaluations for hardware/software acquisitions and architecture
Work with various sponsor organizations, FFRDCs, and contractors to ensure long-term network architecture meets projected needs
The successful candidate will, in addition to providing top level technical support and vision, provide subject matter expertise across several government offices

Required

8+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
Active TS/SCI with CI Poly
Experience integrating emerging cybersecurity capabilities, hardware and software, into large network architectures
Experience working with multiple government agencies, FFRDCs, and contractors
Experience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automation
Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar tools
Familiarity with architecting diverse services of environments
Ability to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where needed
Ability to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performance
Ability to deploy all hardware/software configurations following established standards in an automated and auditable method
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site
