Junior Strategist
HLW is an architecture and design firm that has been supporting clients for over 15 years through its strategy studio, Ark. The Junior Strategist will be a key member of client-facing teams, engaging in benchmarking, programming, and pre-design work for interior and architectural projects while contributing to internal initiatives and business development efforts.

Responsibilities
Serve as a member of the global Ark studio within HLW
Provide information and spatial data reports to various people throughout the firm
Act as a key knowledge resource on Ark project data
Assume responsibility for key project tasks and the development of key project deliverables
Engage in various project related tasks. Tasks may include workshop facilitation, interviews with clients and their representatives, developing workplace surveys or other analytical exercises, space programming, and liaison with the project designers and architects around subsequent phases of scope
At the beginning of projects, develop programmatic dashboards of client spaces by measuring existing conditions and generating “as-is” reports of summary metrics and program details
As needed, verify other square footage measurements of spaces, loss factors, REBNY/BOMA rentable calculations, or other quantifiable project data points throughout the course of all project phases
Input program data into a master database on an ongoing basis
Advise other members of the Ark team and other senior staff on project metrics and spatial trends by gathering insights and intelligence from across multiple projects
Contribute to Ark internal initiatives and business planning as requested
Develop space program dashboards or other similar reports based on the layouts provided by prospective clients to assist with developing proposal or business pitch material
Contribute to the development of trend reports or other Ark marketing or business development collateral
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in architecture, social sciences, research methodology, or a related discipline (statistics or data analytics discipline a bonus)
0 to 3 years of professional experience in architecture, design, workplace strategy, research, or related disciplines
Demonstrated design excellence and attention to detail
Ability to conduct business in a professional manner and prioritize client needs and deadlines
Ability to work as part of a collaborative and fast-paced global team
Excellent communication, graphic, and verbal presentation skills
Versatility with computer graphics software including but not limited to AutoCAD / Revit, 3-D Modeling Software (i.e. Studio Max, Rhino, Sketch Up), Adobe CS Programs, MS Office Suite
Knowledge of current best practices in design and technologies
Marketing skills as it relates to the ability to form graphic presentations in Adobe InDesign or MS PowerPoint that combine both qualitative and quantitative insights for client briefs
Thorough knowledge of BOMA and REBNY standards of classifying and measuring space
Skilled in use of Excel and/or other database/spreadsheet applications
Ability to use virtual collaboration tools to work with distributed colleagues and teams
Desire to work directly with clients on matters related to the tracking of space plans and discussion of programmatic data
Preferred
Basic knowledge of building codes and MEP systems as they apply to the mapping of relevant spaces on a floor a bonus
