Senior LevelThe University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Hicks and Martha Griffiths Endowed Chair in American Politics. This tenured/tenure track position focuses on American Politics with responsibilities in teaching, research, and service, beginning in the Fall Semester of 2026.
Education
Responsibilities
Teaching courses in American Politics, typically 3 courses per academic year
Conducting research and publishing in highly ranked journals and academic presses
Engaging in service within the institution and the scholarly community
Supervising undergraduate and graduate students
Qualification
Required
A PhD in Political Science or related field
Clear research agenda
Strong theoretical orientation
Excellent methodological skills
Record of publications in highly ranked journals and academic presses
Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels
History of engaged service within current institutions, in the scholarly community, and in public outreach
Successful track record of securing external funding
Expected to be filled at the Associate or Full Professor rank
Applications from exceptionally accomplished Assistant Professors whose work demonstrates extraordinary promise and impact will be considered
Preferred
