software engineering intern (backend / robotics infrastructure)

Mundane is a venture-backed seed-stage robot learning startup founded by a team of Stanford researchers and builders. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will help build the cloud and backend systems that connect Mundane’s humanoid robots to operators and data pipelines.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Build and extend backend services that connect internet-enabled robots to cloud infrastructure
Assist with secure session management for teleoperation, including robot–operator connection, disconnection, and monitoring
Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms for robots, operators, and internal services
Support edge-to-cloud communication over unreliable or high-latency networks such as cellular or 5G
Contribute to data ingestion and buffering pipelines for moving large volumes of robot data into the cloud
Help define and implement cloud data storage and organization strategies for analytics and machine learning
Assist with over-the-air (OTA) update and remote deployment workflows for robot fleets
Build internal tooling, dashboards, or alerts to improve observability, reliability, and debugging
Collaborate with robotics engineers to define clean interfaces between cloud services and robot-side software
