The Saw / CNC Trepan Lathe Operator will set up and operate various saws and CNC lathes to cut and process raw metal materials according to specifications, ensuring quality and safety throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate band saws, circular saws, trepanning machines, and the Goodway CNC lathe to cut, drill, and trepan raw metal materials per work orders

Interpret drawings, work instructions, and material tags to determine correct cut lengths, tolerances, and specifications

Measure, mark, and inspect materials and finished cuts using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality

Load and unload heavy metal bars, billets, and forgings using overhead cranes while following safe material-handling practices

Monitor cutting operations and adjust speeds, feeds, and machine settings to optimize performance and minimize waste

Perform routine machine checks, identify mechanical issues, and report concerns to maintenance or supervision

Maintain accurate production records, cut logs, material traceability, safety stock tracking, and conduct monthly cycle counts

Follow all safety requirements, including PPE, machine guarding, and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and safe work environment

Required

High school diploma or GED required

Basic understanding of CNC machinery and metal cutting processes

Minimum 1 year of experience operating metal cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications

Strong basic math, measurement, and inspection skills

Knowledge of industrial safety practices

Preferred

Forklift or crane certification preferred

Familiarity with SAP or similar manufacturing software systems

Experience with trepanning or deep-hole boring and knowledge of common metals (e.g., stainless steel, Inconel, titanium)
