Research Support Specialist
Stony Brook University is a leading educational institution, and they are seeking a Research Support Specialist to support the research program in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. The role involves maintaining mouse colonies, preparing and maintaining primary muscle stem cells, and performing basic biochemistry assays while assisting other lab members.

Responsibilities
Provide technical laboratory support to the PI and other lab members for advanced research activities
Assist Principal Investigator with ordering lab supplies, maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety procedures, and routine maintenance of lab instruments
Participate in weekly lab meetings
Perform literature searches, staying current in the field by reading and discussing literature and experimental results with the PI
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field in the sciences (foreign equivalent or higher)
Technical knowledge as evidenced by coursework in Biochemistry and/or Cell Biology
Experience in a research laboratory
Experience with mouse husbandry and handling
Experience with basic biochemistry techniques such as western blotting, ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR
Preferred
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field in the sciences
Experience with histology and/or immunohistochemistry
Experience with molecular cloning
Experience with microscopy
Familiarity with cell biology laboratory procedures
Experience working with tissue culture
