Executive Communication Manager & Speechwriter
Texas State University is seeking an Executive Communication Manager & Speechwriter to develop marketing and communications strategies that enhance engagement with various audiences. The role involves researching, writing, and editing speeches and communications for senior leaders, as well as managing issues and reputation through strategic counsel.

Responsibilities
Research, write, and edit speeches, remarks, video scripts, op-eds, and correspondence for the President, Vice President, and senior leaders
Develop consistent messaging that reflects university priorities and mission; manage updates to executive web pages, bios, and statements; draft formal letters and digital communications
Provide strategic counsel on tone, timing, and message discipline; support crisis communications planning and rapid response messaging
Partner with departments to ensure message alignment; contribute to university-wide communication planning and strategic initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field
Minimum of five years of professional writing or communications experience, with a strong background in writing for senior executives, government leaders, or CEOs
Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with proven ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences
Proven discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters
Demonstrated success in speech writing and narrative development for live and digital formats
Preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Familiarity with higher education, public affairs, or mission-driven organizations
Strong understanding of presentation design and digital communication tools
