Associate Director, Data Science, New Targets, Oncology

Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of data scientists, driving high-quality data science that is grounded in deep understanding of biology and applicable data science methodologies and approaches to identify new targets for oncology drug development
Co-develop and execute a data science strategy to enable and enhance innovation in the new targets space
Closely align with the Target Biology and Discovery (TBaD) team as well as the Oncology Drug Discovery Data Science teams to represent the New Targets data science function, manage the portfolio of data science New Targets projects, and drive collaborative innovation in the New Targets space
Collaborate on the development and implementation of innovative machine learning algorithms, AI models, and platforms to enable the delivery of predictive and prescriptive insights with the Oncology Data Science AI team and other technology-focused teams
As member of the Oncology Data Science Leadership team contribute to Oncology Data Science overall direction and management, represent the new targets portfolio as a function
Closely collaborate with Oncology Data Science engineering teams to ensure team adherence to data standards, data governance and data strategy
Play a leading role in matrix teams such as disease area teams or teams centered around key technologies such as genomics, proteomics and spatial technologies
Present and externalize work of the team in conferences, abstracts and scientific journals
Qualification
Required
This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will require 5% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international)
Ph.D. in data science, computational biology or related fields with a strong background in oncology, strong scientific mindset and the ability to set scientific strategy
7+ years of experience in a data science role in oncology drug development or highly relevant academic functions
Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team of data scientists and analysts, 3+ years of direct people management experience
Understanding of functional oncology targets such as mutated oncogenes as well as principles around identifying cell surface targets for modalities such as antibody-drug conjugates, CAR-T and/or radioligand therapies
Broad experience with genomics, proteomics data and/or functional genomics data
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex data insights and recommendations to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Proven history of contributions to the scientific community in the form of papers and/or conference presentations
Preferred
Specific experience with new target identification in oncology
Strong expertise in AI/machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
