Ascertain is building AI agents to automate the administrative work that burdens care teams, aiming to restore time, trust, and focus in healthcare. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will design and develop scalable backend services and manage infrastructure to support Ascertain’s healthcare AI platform.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable back-end services using Python and FastAPI

Support infrastructure management using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform

Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define technical requirements and translate them into robust software solutions

Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high-quality code standards

Contribute to improving software development processes and best practices

Qualification

Required

4+ years of experience in back-end development using Python and FastAPI

Experience in full stack development using Python, FastAPI, and TypeScript

Familiarity with containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD workflows

Experience with infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Docker

Preferred

Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and other stores (Redis) a plus

You have a security-minded approach to software design, with experience in regulated environments a plus

Experience in ambiguous startup environments, proactively take ownership, and communicate clearly across teams
