Accounting Supervisor
Catholic Charities is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable department and manage all aspects of accounting and general ledger maintenance. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments, and participating in the preparation of the annual audit.

Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable department, including supervising staff, managing workflows, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
Ensure that financial deadlines are met and that customer service is provided to all internal stakeholders
Monitor accounts and ensure that any discrepancies are identified and resolved
Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Identify and help implement areas for efficiencies including but limited to an electronic purchase order system
Prepare monthly and annual reports for management as need
Participate in the preparation of the annual audit
Oversee the annual tax filing process (1099s)
Drives the ‘monthly close’ process; prepare and enter data to the general ledger in accordance with governing professional standards; reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledger accounts as assigned
Prepare and process journal entries under the guidance of senior financial staff
Performs bank account reconciliations
Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts (as assigned)
Research and resolve reconciling issues and discrepancies
Assist with implementation and maintenance of internal controls and policies of Finance/Organization; develop and document systems and business processes for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies; recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures as necessary
Input daily Cash Receipts Postings into accounting records as needed
Assist with annual audit engagement
Assists other Finance personnel with ad-hoc projects on an as needed basis
Ensure the consistent, accurate collection of the data
Use results of data to inform decision making
Evaluate operational functions that influence the agency’s capacity in the delivery of program and administrative services
Identify and prioritize desired results and establishing means to measure progress toward those results
Identify and mitigate business and compliance risk
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in accounting is required
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressively responsible, hands-on work experience in a similar role is required
Thorough knowledge of GAAP
Professional oral and written communication skills; demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain effective working and collaborative relationships with a ‘service excellence' approach
Strong attention to detail
Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
Qualifying criminal background
Preferred
Not-for-profit experience a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially EXCEL and ACCESS)
Experience with and knowledge of Abila MIP accounting software a plus
