Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end product vision and roadmap for the BESS platform, spanning site controls, cloud optimization, and operational interfaces
Define product strategy that balances customer commitments, market opportunities, and technical feasibility
Conduct user research with operators, asset managers and field services teams to deeply understand workflows and pain points
Write detailed product requirements documents (PRDs) with user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications
Partner with Engineering to scope features, prioritize the backlog, and make trade-off decisions across multiple workstreams
Collaborate with Data Science to define requirements for forecasting models, optimization algorithms, and market analytics
Work with Design to create intuitive interfaces for complex real-time monitoring, control, and revenue management workflows
Define success metrics and monitor product performance through analytics, customer feedback, and operational KPIs
Qualification
Required
5+ years of product management experience
Direct experience building software in an electricity context, such as a BESS platform, energy management system (EMS), or distributed energy resource management system (DERMS)
Experience working on technically complex platforms — real-time systems, data-intensive applications, IoT, or industrial software
Strong technical foundation — comfortable with system architecture, APIs, data pipelines, and collaborating deeply with engineers and data scientists
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing PRDs, presenting to executives, and engaging with customers
Track record of shipping products from concept through launch and iteration in an agile environment
Preferred
Familiarity with multiple BESS OEMs (Tesla, Sungrow, Fluence, etc.)
Understanding of optimization, forecasting, or machine learning as applied to energy systems
Technical degree (CS, Engineering, Physics) or equivalent hands-on experience
Experience at early-stage startups building products from zero to one
