Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground high-voltage power lines and related equipment
Perform high-voltage switching and energized work within Minimum Approach Distance (MAD)
Supervise and instruct Line Workers performing energized and de-energized work
Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure
Carry out tasks within substations and support site-wide electrical projects
Respond to emergency outages and participate in on-call rotations
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including fault findings and materials used
Follow Rio Tinto Kennecott safety standards and procedures, including lockout/tagout and arc flash
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to a high-performance maintenance team

Required

Certified professionals that hold a valid Lineman Certification
Hands-on experience in high-voltage electrical systems
Strong commitment to safety, aligned with MSHA standards and Rio Tinto's 'Zero Harm' culture
Valid Journeyperson Lineman Certificate
Valid Driver's License
Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial, utility, or mining electrical systems
Proven ability to work safely with high-voltage systems (up to 25kV or higher)
Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience with test equipment (e.g., multimeters, phasing meters)
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

CDL license (or willingness to obtain)
Experience training or mentoring others in the Line trade
Familiarity with power substation operations and terminology
Knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and regulations
