The Supervisor will direct daily operations, manage staff resources, and ensure compliance with laboratory regulations to meet the needs of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

Prepares work schedules and monitors staff productivity to effectively utilize personnel and adhere to established turnaround times

Reviews daily work to identify potential technical and/or clerical errors and facilitate the timely correction of results when necessary

Maintains worklogs and daily QC / maintenance

Troubleshoots procedures and instrumentation to minimize instrument downtime

Performs routine cytopathology screening (gyne and non-gyne) to support workload needs and turn-around-time targets

Manages staff resources in order to meet the needs of laboratory stakeholders

Monitors and maintains the cytopathology quality performance standards (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) and provides detailed statistics including but not limited to specimen adequacy, turnaround time, patient identification issues

Facilitates the completion of the diagnostic rescreen on at least 10% of slide volume

Ensures cytotechnologists due not exceed maximum allowable slide screening as dictated by regulatory bodies

Ensuring compliance with laboratory regulations and accreditation standards
