Business Development Representative (NYC)

Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, empowers developers and businesses with a fast PostgreSQL platform. The Business Development Representative will support the sales team by generating meetings and creating pipelines through inbound lead follow-up, outbound prospecting, and cold calling.

Responsibilities

Convert inbound leads and qualify “in-market” opportunities
Prospect into assigned target accounts and self-source new opportunities
Cold call regularly and run multichannel outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn)
Research accounts, identify the right buyers, and tailor messaging
Build sequences that create urgency and drive replies
Develop a clear account POV (why now, why Tiger Data, why it matters) and earn meetings
Partner with AEs to align on account strategy, messaging, and next steps
Maintain accurate activity and pipeline tracking in Salesforce and related tools
Attend industry conferences and events as needed

Required

You are a self-motivated self-starter with a history of hitting ambitious targets
You have grit and resilience: you stay consistent through rejection, learn fast, and keep iterating
You are comfortable cold calling and using the phone as a primary channel
You can confidently engage senior stakeholders and build trust quickly
You thrive in a startup environment: you're comfortable with ambiguity, you move fast, and you turn loose direction into clear execution
You have an entrepreneurial, builder mindset: you proactively improve plays, messaging, and process, and you seek and apply feedback quickly
You bring strong time management and can balance multiple priorities and challenging targets

Preferred

1+ years experience working in sales or customer-facing roles
Prior Sales/SDR experience at a technology company
Previous experience working with a technical audience
Experience using sales productivity tools (e.g. Salesforce, Linkedin, GoogleSuite, Outreach, Apollo)
