Waste Heat Recovery and DC Energy Efficiency Intern - Summer 2026
NVIDIA is a leading technology company known for its innovative AI Factories aimed at enhancing AI and HPC workloads. They are seeking an intern to assist in thermal R&D and evaluate energy flows and waste heat recovery systems in data centers.

Responsibilities
Research and evaluate waste heat recovery technologies such as absorption chillers, heat-recovery loops, and their energy/computing impacts
Model data center energy flows, PUE/RP improvements, and high-temperature liquid-cooling benefits
Create digital twins using CFD and FNM tools for ambient-to-chip thermal/fluid simulations
Assist with analysis, scripting, and visualization (Python/MATLAB), and supporting technical reports and benchmarking
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with sustainability and performance goals
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong thermal and optimization background
Strong understanding of thermal management principles and fluid dynamics
In-depth knowledge of sustainable technologies, including waste heat recovery, advanced cooling solutions, energy-efficient hardware, and innovative data center designs
Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to environmental sustainability
Preferred
Experience with DCs cooling systems simulation tools (CFD and FNM)
Experience with Omniverse or USD-based digital twin integration
Research/publications in data center cooling or advanced thermal management
Strong communication and partnership skills
