Mid Platforms Engineer

Core4ce is seeking a Mid Platforms Engineer to provide advanced expertise in monitoring, maintaining, and scaling VMware-based platforms to ensure high availability and optimal performance of enterprise environments. This role will support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) mission by managing ESXi hosts, administering vCenter, and recommending efficient use of compute capacity worldwide.

Responsibilities

Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues on ESXi hosts across distributed environments
Upgrade hardware and firmware on physical hosts as applicable
Operate VMware vCenter and perform advanced VM lifecycle management functions
Manage permissions and functionality within vCenter for customer administrators
Track compute capacity across all hosts/sites and provide recommendations for capacity planning
Migrate VMs across hosts to optimize workload performance and availability
Support the procurement, installation, and configuration of new physical datacenter hardware
Collaborate with Government and contractor leads to ensure alignment with mission requirements

Required

10+ years of professional experience in platforms engineering or systems administration
T5 investigation
Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain)
Hands-on expertise with VMware vCenter, ESXi (6.7/7), VMware vRealize Operations Manager (vROps), VMware vRealize Automation, and VMware Update Manager
Strong background in virtualization, physical node management (blades/chassis), and datacenter operations
Experience with compute capacity planning and hardware lifecycle management
Ability to independently troubleshoot complex platform issues and implement lasting solutions
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, globally distributed team
IAT Level II certification
Perform duties on-site within a cleared space at Joint Base Charleston

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
At least one relevant industry certification such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar certification
Experience supporting large-scale, geographically dispersed datacenter environments
Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) environments, security compliance, such as Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and DHA mission systems
Prior experience recommending and implementing platform optimization strategies at scale
