Plant Packaging Engineer

Responsibilities
Conducts benchmark studies of industry packaging capabilities in order to identify most effective and efficient approaches for GSF
Analyze packaging line performance data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and downtime trends
Develop and implement process improvement initiatives focused on increasing productivity, reducing waste, and improving OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Maintenance, Quality, Operations, and R&D) to evaluate packaging performance and drive corrective action plans
Design and execute experiments (DOE) to optimize equipment parameters, material usage, and process reliability
Support capital improvement projects, including line upgrades, new equipment commissioning, and layout changes to improve material flow and ergonomics
Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Packaging or Manufacturing Engineering
3+ years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of existing and emerging packaging technologies
Knowledge of package engineering
Knowledge of management concepts and techniques
Knowledge of relevant division or department policies and regulations
Knowledge of statistical process control concepts and data analysis
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for packaging and labeling
Knowledge of technical characteristics of packaging and measurement techniques
Knowledge of PC word processing/spreadsheet software applications
3+ years of experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing
Demonstrated success in process optimization, equipment troubleshooting, and project management
Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software (Excel, Minitab, Power BI)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
Hands-on, proactive, and safety-focused approach to continuous improvement
Preferred
Packaging experience preferred
Experience with high-speed filling, labeling, or case packing systems is a plus
