Field Procurement Manager

Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of the construction project life cycle, from conceptual design to project closeout
Understand project documents, including plans, specifications, addenda, diagrams, and how these fit into the procurement process
Proactively interface with electrical and mechanical subcontractors regarding project scopes
Analyze bids and recognize potential installation efficiencies or methodologies that can reduce project costs
Strategically negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve target pricing on a diverse range of projects
Identify, pursue, and capitalize on cost-saving opportunities to boost profit margins and maximize customer value
Work with digital construction documents and have experience soliciting competitive bids using an electronic platform
Use digital tools, applications, and data analytics to track results, manage metrics, and identify spending patterns
Maintain appropriate bid solicitation rates that comply with internal procurement policies, ensuring single-source purchasing activities are strategic and justifiable
Identify opportunities to maximize corporate buying power, utilize existing purchasing agreements with manufacturers and suppliers, and collaborate with commodity managers to create a competitive platform for favorable pricing
Effectively communicate procurement policies and procedures with internal management, operations, and sales
Offer internal presentations and training to explain processes and workflow standards, acting as the first line of support for any internal questions or issues
Examine all quotes and proposals for thoroughness and accuracy, verifying critical information such as cost breakdowns, scope descriptions, required delivery dates, terms and conditions, and exclusions
Oversee the entire procurement life cycle and support coordination with vendors, design teams, field staff, and end users as needed
Review the financials of subcontractors to identify potential risks and make sound judgments when hiring new subcontractors for projects
Participate in various office meetings and events, developing relationships in a specific geography with cross-functional partners in sales, operations, engineering, finance, legal, and management

Required

BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management
5+ years in commercial construction, with experience in bid solicitations and negotiating pricing and contract terms
Ability to travel up to 10%
