Grant Analyst

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assist in grant application development: preparing budgets, budget narratives, timelines, and project schedules
Track and monitor grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and allowable costs
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for grants, including budget-to-actual comparisons, and submit financial reports to grantors as required (monthly, quarterly, annually)
Manage requisitions, purchase orders, encumbrances, and budget adjustments as needed
Review proposed expenditures for allowability under grant terms and conditions
Serve as liaison between departmental staff, finance/auditor offices, purchasing, and grantors to ensure compliance and resolve issues
Maintain grant documentation: proposals, agreements, amendments, reports, correspondence
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance grant-management efficiency, reporting, or compliance
Collaborate with program and finance staff to ensure proper grant accounting and timely revenue recognition
Support grant proposal financial components and forecast funding needs
Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports related to grant activity
Serve as a resource for granting financial data and reporting within the organization
Stay informed on nonprofit accounting standards and grant compliance regulations
Perform special financial analyses or projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
At least five (5) years of experience in grant financial analysis, nonprofit accounting, or a related financial role
Strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting and grant compliance

Preferred

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Strong analytical skills, including ability to interpret financial data
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple grants/projects and meet tight deadlines
Understanding of governmental grant compliance, rules and procurement
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders
Ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences
Proficient with accounting and financial software, such as Blackbaud is a plus
Experience with STARS Finance or similar government accounting systems is a plus
Experience with government and foundation grant reporting preferred
