Biennial Institutional Engineering Surveyor

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all North Carolinians. They are seeking a Biennial Institutional Engineering Surveyor to conduct onsite inspections of Adult Care Homes and Mental Health facilities to ensure compliance with licensing regulations.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Conduct onsite physical plant and life safety inspections of existing Adult Care Homes and Mental Health facilities
Determine compliance with licensing regulations
Interpret historical editions of Building Codes and Licensure Rules as they apply to existing facilities
Explain the meaning and intent of rules and standards to the public and government officials
Travel throughout the state with overnight stays as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience
Must possess a valid driver's license and be available to travel within the State, including some overnight travel (2-3 days a month)
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors

Preferred

Familiarity with building plans and/or engineering specifications
Familiarity with building codes
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing technical construction and/or engineering information
