Community Development Director
The Town of Snowmass Village is seeking a Community Development Director to lead the Community Development Department. This role involves overseeing planning, building inspections, and coordinating development applications while ensuring compliance with zoning and land use regulations.

Responsibilities
Provides effective and dynamic leadership and management to create a positive, cohesive development review team and work environment. This includes creating and implementing systems for personnel development and recognition, creation and implementation of the department's budget, and facilitating regular and effective communication within and outside of the department
Provides overall direction for both current and long-range planning, compliance with the adopted building codes, and other Town policies and regulations related to the development review process
Provides direction on enforcement of zoning, land use, and building regulations
Serves as a visible spokesperson in the community on development and planning issues
Provides staff support, oral and written communication, and coordination of administrative support for the Town's Planning Commission
Manages long-range and current planning projects through the planning staff. Special projects the director may directly be responsible for, but not limited to include: updating comprehensive plans, assisting the Housing Director with the housing policy, researching code changes at the direction of the Town Manager and Town Council, assisting with the development of an environmental policy as it relates to the development process, and other long-range planning projects
Processes and facilitates complex land use applications through the development review process
Develops and works with the Town's GIS division to maintain the zoning map of the Town of Snowmass Village
Reviews and improves the development review process, including monthly billings and fee structure
Manages revenue from permits and applications to help offset operating costs
Functions as an integral member of the Town's executive management team in formulating budgets, annual operating plans, and meeting the Towns strategic objectives
Provides direction to Community Development staff
Works with and provides support to the Town Council, Planning Commission, contractors, architects and all others impacted by the land use and building permit review process. This includes participating in public meetings in both the day and night
Supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, disciplining, training, coaching, evaluating performance, and providing day-to-day oversight the Chief Building Official, Senior Planner, Planner, and Code Compliance Manager
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Urban Design, or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
Degree in city planning or closely related field, and experience in all phases of city planning and technical experience in zoning administration
Minimum of four years' experience working as a Planner
Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a government agency with issues related to land development, construction, site and or building design evaluation
Computer skills required
Extensive prior management experience in all phases of long-range and current planning and the building code enforcement and inspection process
Understanding the planning and construction process for complex multi-use projects
Extensive experience in managing long-range planning and policy projects with significant public processes
Ability to manage changing public demands while balancing against code and regulatory compliance
Ability to create and manage a cohesive multi-disciplinary team
Ability to facilitate ongoing redevelopment in Town ensuring that all codes are complied with while considering the community's interests
Ability to manage complex development review applications
Possession of a valid driver's license
