The University of Toledo is seeking to fill one or more tenure track Assistant Professor positions in Interdisciplinary Data Science. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program and teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on areas such as astro-statistics and computational biochemistry.

Responsibilities

Develop an active, independent, externally funded research program that uses data science techniques, such as machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, or other big data techniques

Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in astronomy, biochemistry, or biology as well as data science is expected

Involve both graduate and undergraduate students in their research program

Substantially contribute to and lead the development of new academic programs and revision of existing programs to best meet the needs of University of Toledo students

Required

Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field. Applicants should have their PhD by the anticipated start term which is Fall 2026

Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in astronomy, biochemistry, or biology as well as data science is expected

Candidates should plan to involve both graduate and undergraduate students in their research program

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active, independent, externally funded research program that uses data science techniques, such as machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, or other big data techniques

The new faculty member will be expected to substantially contribute to and lead the development of new academic programs and revision of existing programs to best meet the needs of University of Toledo students
