Maintenance Technician - Mechanic, Heat Treat

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs of production equipment, specifically related but not limited to, gas and electric heat furnaces, ovens, tooling, quench tanks, cooling systems, parts washing equipment, and parts plating equipment
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance such as lubricating, adjustments, component replacements, cleaning, teardown and reassembly
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical and controls systems. Replace pumps, motors, gear boxes, cylinders, chains, etc
Maintain documentation related to safety, PMs and repair work orders
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new heat-treating equipment
Interface with contractors as needed for repairs beyond in-house capabilities
Specify and order required repair parts and supplies. Maintain min/max for spares
Install electrical piping, conduits, wiring, switching devices, controls, fixtures, motors, fans, and other such equipment
Perform skilled maintenance activities including welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing
Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to implement process improvements
Maintain clean and organized work areas per 5S requirements
Fabricate or modify parts as required to increase equipment up-time
Follow all company rules and procedures
Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers and suppliers

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum three years of experience with heat treating equipment
Computer literate – must be able to learn and use maintenance work order software
Good communication skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs
Must be able to work on site in Carson, California
Must be able to work on the 2nd shift and overtime and/or weekends as needed

Preferred

5 or more years' experience with furnace operations and furnace repairs. Shaker furnace experience a plus
Experience in troubleshooting & repairs of various types of production & facilities equipment
