Aircraft Fabrication & Assembly (Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection) - Full-time Faculty
Antelope Valley Community College District is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member for the Aerospace, Industrial Arts, and Applied Technologies division. The role involves teaching Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection courses, maintaining office hours, and participating in various professional and curricular activities.

Responsibilities
Teach fifteen lecture hour equivalents per semester in Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection (ANDI) using various teaching methods including demonstrations and active learning strategies
Maintain five office hours per week, including regular posted office hours, which are accessible to students
Responsible for preparation time
Participate in faculty/division meetings; yearly program review; curricular planning, development, and implementation; student learning outcomes: data collection and writing action plans, program learning outcomes, development, assessment, and implementation; evaluation of educational programs; and college governance to advance the college's mission and strategic goals
Participate in faculty professional development and continuing education activities that are designed to maintain and develop currency in the field, pedagogy (for traditional and online teaching and learning), and student support strategies, especially as they relate to student equity initiatives
Maintain records of attendance, census, grades, etc
Provide an environment conducive to effective learning
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work
Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Travel between District locations is also expected
Performs other instructional-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Any Bachelor's degree or higher AND two years professional experience, OR any Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience
College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience in the discipline
College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate's degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the discipline
Eight years of experience in the aircraft fabrication occupation, two years of which must have included assignment as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility with emphasis in aircraft assembly or prototype construction
A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Preferred
Bachelor's in Science degree in academic subject area related to the assignment
Three years full time, postsecondary teaching experience in Career Technical Education (preferably at a community college) OR 10 years of recent experience in training programs as related to the aviation/aerospace manufacturing/maintenance industries
Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Experience as a company Level III OR American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc (ASNT) Level III Certificate in the methods that is being taught, e.g. Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Inspection, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, etc
Industry certifications related to the assignment (e.g., but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Management)
Possession of FAA certification(s) A&P, IA
Evidence of successful grant writing or scholarship awards
Demonstrates strong applied aerospace industry knowledge and maintains current certifications, training, and professional relevance
Communicates complex technical concepts clearly and effectively using multiple instructional methods that support diverse learners
Exhibits professionalism, dependability, and collegiality while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, industry partners, and students
Engages in continuous improvement through participation in governance, curriculum development, program review, and faculty development activities
Shows initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in support of program needs, instructional delivery modes (onsite, hybrid, or online), and evolving workforce expectations
