The Texas Department of Transportation is looking for Engineering Interns in their Bridge Division. The role involves assisting with transportation engineering support work, including construction inspection, data collection, and performing entry-level engineering tasks.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Develops spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents

Gathers basic data and assists with routine statistical analysis

Performs data entry and computer-aided analysis

Prepares required worksheets and inspection reports

Uses drafting equipment and performs hand or computer-aided drafting and calculating work

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS

High School / Entry Summer in recommended high school plan

Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school

Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools

This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing

Proficient skill in maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others

Some skill in research and analysis methodologies

Some skill in using basic mathematical fundamentals

Some skill in collecting, sorting and compiling data

Some skill in analyzing and organizing business and technical data

Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
