Data Rotational Engineer

PennEngineering is seeking a motivated individual to be a part of their Data and AI Rotational Program as an Associate Data Engineer. In this role, you will rotate through various areas of the Data Group, learning how to support the design, development, and implementation of AI-driven solutions that enhance business operations.

Responsibilities

Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns
Assist in developing machine learning models using relevant algorithms and techniques for regression, classification, time series, NLP, and clustering applications. In partnership with business teams perform customer behavior analysis, prospect valuation, and process optimization
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of AI-based solutions to enhance various company processes
Work closely with cross functional teams to understand business problems/requirements and integrate AI solutions into existing workflows
Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning and suggest innovative techniques to improve tool performance
Help maintain comprehensive documentation of AI/ML models, processes, and results for future reference and continuous improvement
Contribute to organizational strategies for identifying and managing the risks of deploying AI and data applications for developers and end-users, especially pertaining to user experience and human factors

Required

May 2026 graduate in either bachelor's or preferably a master's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or SQL
Basic knowledge of machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, tidymodels, keras)
Understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques is helpful
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for deploying data solutions is a plus
Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
Eagerness to learn and stay updated on emerging data science and AI technologies
Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication (verbal and written) and collaboration abilities
Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align AI initiatives with business goals and drive strategic outcomes
Innovative Mindset: Enthusiasm for exploring new AI technologies and methodologies to improve existing processes

Preferred

Proficiency with version control systems like Git is preferred
Experience in developing machine learning models is a plus, but not required
Exposure to data visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
