Laboratory Research Technician III RBL5
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Staff Lab Technician to join the laboratory of Dr. JoAnne Flynn, focusing on tuberculosis research. The role involves conducting laboratory analyses, utilizing various immunologic assays, and collaborating with lab members in a Biosafety Level 3 environment.

Responsibilities
Perform a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures
Prepare reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation
Oversee specimen inventory
Develop documentation for publication; craft manuscripts and grant proposals
Use advanced molecular, immunologic, and microbiologic assays on blood and tissues specimens from animals experimentally infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Follow established laboratory protocols, troubleshoot assays as necessary, and collect and analyze data
Assist senior researchers in developing research proposals and papers and maintain organized records
Qualification
Required
At least one year of experience in an immunology, microbiology, or related laboratory setting
Bachelor's Degree
Skills in immunologic and molecular biologic assays
Sterile technique
Ability to master new laboratory procedures
Operating specialized equipment
Achieving Biosafety Level 3 proficiency
Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory
Ability to wear the requisite personal protective equipment
Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse
Ability to see and hear clearly to maintain a safe working environment
Ability to critically analyze and synthesize information
Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement
Preferred
Experience with infectious disease research or immunologic techniques such as FACS and ELISPOT
Preference given to those in biology, immunology, molecular biology, or chemistry
