Engineer-In-Charge
The City of New York is seeking an Engineer-in-Charge for the Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure. This role involves managing complex construction projects, coordinating with various engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with agency standards while overseeing project budgets and timelines.

Responsibilities
Managing the construction of complex projects
Leading constructability review meetings to reduce delays
Ensuring the precise collection of project data
Coordinating with Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, and Inspectors
Liaising with the Utility company, Design and Program Management Units
Inspecting contracted work to ensure it meets Agency and City standards
Preparing cost proposals for contract negotiations
Suggesting modifications to engineering designs
Engaging in design and constructability review meetings
Managing and approving various project-specific submissions
Overseeing financial aspects like payments, change orders, and time extensions
Overseeing final inspections
Mentoring new staff
Managing project close-out procedures
Ensuring the approval of final documentation
Providing regular updates on project progress
Addressing any critical delays in meetings
Qualification
Required
Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License
Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position
Preferred
Should have three years or more as Resident Engineer experience and knowledge of various types of capital construction and consultant contracts
Possess construction experience related to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main)
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
Valid driver's license (required)
Personal vehicle (preferred)
