Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and direct field survey activities in accordance with project requirements and company standards

Supervise and train survey field staff in proper surveying methods, safety procedures, and use of equipment

Perform field surveys using GPS, robotic total stations, levels, and other surveying instruments

Collect, process, and review field data for completeness, accuracy, and quality control

Interpret and implement engineering and architectural plans, maps, and specifications for survey projects

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and office staff regarding project requirements and progress

Maintain field notes, sketches, and digital data records in an organized and accurate manner

Ensure all field work adheres to applicable safety, environmental, and legal standards

Troubleshoot field and equipment issues and ensure proper maintenance of all surveying instruments

May perform computations and assist with preparation of survey plats, legal descriptions, and other documentation as needed

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum of 3-5 years of field surveying experience, with at least 1–2 years in a crew chief or lead role

Proficient with modern survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors)

Strong understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and construction layout techniques

Valid driver's license with clean driving record required

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain

Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods

Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds of equipment

Comfortable working in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain

Preferred

Associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field preferred

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar software preferred
